Addictions & Faith Event

Description:

It is part of the human condition to seek escape — even salvation — from our pain and problems in many forms, whether through food, phones, videogames, medication, substance use, sex, codependent relationships, or something else. When it comes to faith and the community of the church, it can feel like we need to clean ourselves up and "get better" before we can have relationships with God and others.
But what if...
  • addictions are part of our shared human condition — one that God fully sees and knows, and even empathizes with?
  • God came for those who are thirsty, who feel weak, and who know they need healing and help? (And what if that is actually all of us?)
  • you can bear suffering with another person with peace and strength, without needing to fix the situation?
  • the Church was created and intended to be a redemptive community for us to comfort each other in our pain and to cheer each other on in our recovery and health?
The goal of this event is to open up the conversation in the church about addictions and faith and to provide resources and encouragement for your faith and recovery from whatever hinders you.
